This beast is up for sale on my local classifieds for $1500 it's a 1994 Ford F350 2WD DIESEL!!! Dually Manuel but it says the clutch is gone. other than that it looks pretty damn solid.

I'm considering getting rid of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and replacing it with a truck of some sort. Right now we have 3 somewhat fuel efficient vehicle (2013 Fusion,2013 Escape,1993 Mazda 323) and nothing to haul lumber, furniture or landscaping. materials.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It makes sense to me but I'm not always the logical thinker.

Really depends on your level of experience with a wrench.

I have no idea, but unless it's got low low kms on the clock and it runs like magic, 1500 sounds like a lot. Even in Alberta. Could be a good project, though!

The ad said 56,000km's I'm not sure if I believe that or not.

This is the very best truck I found on KIJIJI for $1500 or less. $1500 doesn't get you much these days but if you're paying by the pound this is a real steal.

As long as you have the tools and know-how, it shouldn't be bad. Just keep in mind, the trans is going to be heavy. Also, the IDI is notorious for glow plug problems, so you will need to run a bypass switch to them.

Good point.

You should at least go check it out. Buy things and then entertain us with stories of your misfortune!

I've read that you need the replace the flywheel when you replace the clutch. do you know if this is true or not?

I have some mechanical know-how and a semi decent selection of tools. the work I'm sure I can do,I just don't want to get over my head on repairs.

I don't really know. If it isn't bad, I wouldn't, but it could just be advised preventive maintenance. These trucks are pretty cheap to work on for a diesel. Just maintain it more than you would a new car, and you shouldn't have many problems.

I'm sure I can handle the work. I just don't know if you just replace the clutch disk or if you need to replace the flywheel as well.

You shouldn't need to replace a flywheel, unless it has missing teeth. The hardest part of this job is getting the tranny out of the way, which sometimes means you have to remove it.

It's straightforward if you've done a clutch before. Everything is bigger and heavier so a transmission jack is highly recommended. No special tools or unique steps though.

You'll have to check if this guy is running a dual mass flywheel. If it is you can save some money converting it to a traditional setup. Parts are pretty expensive regardless, think 700 plus.

Sounds like it has a Dual Mass Flywheel, if theres a single mass (regular flywheel) conversion kit i would get that.

if it's 700 for everything needed to get it fixed I would be ok with that. I need to do some more research on it before jumping into it.

When dealing with an old truck it's not a good idea to think "x amount of money will make it reliable." You may find other things wrong with it after the clutch, but then again you might not.
